In order for us to complete this task, we have reinforced and strengthened our school’s cell phone policy to minimize disruption and to align our policy to South Carolina law and CCSD policy regarding cell phone usage.
Cell phones and electronic devices including smartwatches, earbuds, wireless headphones, and other bluetooth devices are prohibited during the instructional day from 7:30am - 4:30pm. Devices and periphery may not be used during instructional time, during transitions, or lunch time.
Cell phones and other electronic devices are:
1) Collected from students during morning check-in.
2) Silenced and turned off and placed in the individual student cell phone sleeve.
2) Returned to students at the end of the regular school day and the end of the after school session.
Using a device for academic dishonesty (such as cheating) or engaging in harmful behaviors like bullying, harassment, or other unethical or illegal behaviors will result in additional consequences in accordance with the CCSD Progressive Discipline Plan.
Exceptions:
Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) , medical plan, or Section 504 accommodations that require device use will be permitted to do so.
